IPX5/IPX6 Water Ingress Test Equipment
The IPX5 and IPX6 tests are performed to determine the waterproofing level
of a product.
Products must be tested according to the requirements of the relevant IPX5
and IPX6 test levels.
The test sample is placed inside a chamber equipped with a rotary table.
During testing, the water spray angle is set to
360°, and the exposure time
is 3 minutes.
General IPX Test Conditions
-
Water supply: Flow rate set to 100% during testing
-
Nozzle diameter: 6.3 mm (IPX5) / 12.5 mm (IPX6)
-
Pressure: 30 kPa (IPX5) / 100 ± 5 kPa (IPX6)
-
Distance: Nozzle positioned 2.5 – 3 m from the test sample
IPX5 Test Conditions
-
Water supply: Flow rate at 100%
-
Flow rate: 12.5 L/min ± 5%
-
Pressure: 30 kPa
-
Duration: 1 minute exposure while maintaining flow and pressure within IPX5 conditions
-
Distance: 2.5 – 3 m from the nozzle to the test sample
IPX6 Test Conditions
-
Water supply: Flow rate at 100%
-
Flow rate: 100 L/min ± 5%
-
Pressure: 100 ± 5 kPa
-
Duration: 1 minute exposure while maintaining flow and pressure within IPX6 conditions
-
Distance: 2.5 – 3 m from the nozzle to the test sample
Evaluation Criteria
-
IPX5 and IPX6 test levels must be maintained throughout the test
-
The product must show no water ingress
-
If water penetration is suspected, the test must be repeated
